A New Concept, Afterlife, Has Filed to Open Its Doors At The Frances Building

According to a recent permit filing, a new concept called Afterlife has been filed for 3632 SE Hawthorne Boulevard.

A representative of Afterlife was not immediately available to comment upon What Now Portland’s request.

Overall information about Afterlife is currently limited. Afterlife’s permit was filed for under Idealist LLC. According to Bizapedia, Idealist LLC was incorporated on May 13th, 2022. Robert Hooper is listed on the license and business filings.

Upon further research from the information provided for Afterlife’s permit, it looks like Hooper is also behind Alive Hospitality. The company’s website states, “Alive Hospitality Group is a bar collective and consulting team.  We help curate and create bar programs, events, & social gatherings – one drink at a time.”

When it comes to the property itself, according to Loop Net, Afterlife would be a part of The Frances Building. The property was built in 1911 with a gross leasable area of 20,300 square feet. The building is a mixed-use property, consisting of seven apartments above four business spaces.
