A New Concept Called Kooks Aims to Debut In the Boise Area

According to a recent permit filing, Stephen Chao of 5 Flavors aims to open a new concept called Kooks at 3932 N Mississippi Avenue.

A representative was unable to provide immediate additional information upon What Now Portland’s request. Kook’s planned days of operation will be Sunday through Thursday from 12 PM to 11 PM, and Friday through Saturday from 12 PM to 12 AM.

Stephen is listed to be behind multiple concepts in Portland, including Kooks and 5 Flavors, amongst others. 5 Flavors, according to the company website, is described as providing “Freshly brewed to order with high-quality loose leaf teas and real ingredients.”

Kook’s new home was originally built in 1992 and renovated in 2021, according to Crexi. “3932-3936 N.​ Mississippi Ave is a 2nd generation restaurant and bar at the heart of Portland’s most iconic retail street.​ It sits on a bustling plaza, surrounded by eateries, stores, and music venues like PDXCHANGE, Gravy, UCHU Sushi, Bar Bar, and Mississippi Studios.​”

“The sublease includes access to the front patio on Mississippi.​ The frontage on Mississippi Ave includes two man doors and two roll-up doors that can open the dining space to the outdoors in summer.​”
