The bar with French-inspired cuisine is relocating in the St. Johns neighborhood.

It was recently reported by Portland Monthly that Bar Nouveau at 7304 N Leavitt Avenue will soon be moving to a new location. This is currently inside Gracie’s Apizza. It will reopen at 7425 N Leavitt Avenue, just down the road from the current location.

The bar will be closing at the end of the month and will undergo renovations and work on the new kitchen. According to owner Althea Grey Potter, the new restaurant will be opening in August, with no set opening date as of yet.

“A wood-fired, French-inspired, farm driven bistro,” says the description on their Instagram page.

Grey Potter was previously the chef of the wine bar Oui in Southeast Portland. It was hailed as one of the best restaurants in 2018, but the restaurant ended up closing two years later. Grey Potter then took a break from the restaurant industry, came back on the scene when she started up Bar Nouveau this spring.

Some of the dishes advertised on their social media include Oregon albacore tuna with lemony flageolet bean and picholine olive salad, French garlic sausage with a warm salad of green lentils and hand-made desserts. There is not a menu for the new location, but guests can expect similar items with farm-based ingredients.

What Now Portland has reached out to the owner, and this article may be updated.
