According to a recent permit filing, Mike Mello of Thunderbird Bar will soon open a new concept at 6258 SE Foster Road.
A representative of the new concept was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Portland’s request.
According to the permit, the name of the concept is listed as “TBD.” The planned operating hours are listed to be every day from 4 PM to 1 AM with no seasonal variation. This also applies to the outdoor operating hours listed, which is stated to have a food service option.
Michael “Mike” Mello is listed as the business contact. Mello, alongside Thunderbird Bar, is also a part of Dream Bird Cookie Co. “Dream Bird Cookie Co. was established in Covid-19, as a collaboration between Thunderbird, a bar located in SE Portland, and Dream Cakes, a wedding cake company located in NE Portland,” the website states.
When it comes to Thunderbird Bar, the website states, “These two long-time bartenders wanted a space to consistently create high-quality (mostly vegan) food and drinks and provide inclusive, genuine hospitality in the FoPo neighborhood where everyone is welcome. At any given night you can find Blazer games on the TV, a sunny welcoming patio, a pool table, and a focus on music and atmosphere.”
When it comes to the property itself, according to Loop Net, it was originally built in 1970. “The property is strategically located between the Foster/Powell, Woodstock, and Creston neighborhoods on the going-home side of the street and benefits from outstanding visibility on SE Foster Road.”
“The property is a 6,100 SF concrete block commercial building with approx. 3,300 square feet of ground floor retail space that could be demised into 2-3 different units. The second level is approx. 2,800 square feet and consists of a 2-bedroom apartment and eight (8) small offices with a kitchen.”
