An Italian cafe and lounge that closed its doors in late 2024 may be reopening later this year.

3 Doors Down Cafe & Lounge recently put in a liquor license application for the former space at 1429 SE 37th Ave. This restaurant was around for 30 years in the Hawthorne neighborhood, specializing in Italian dishes like cavatelli bolognese. The city is expected to decide on the application in late April.

According to the City of Portland Liquor Licensing Department, there was recently a change of ownership to David Marth. He had previously owned the location and is now taking over management. In March 2024, the location announced their 30 year anniversary.

In a list from KTVZ21 of the highest-rated Italian restaurants in the city, 3 Doors Down ranked 24th place, with a 4.5/5 rating from Yelp. There was outdoor seating near the sidewalk and a bar area, and it is not yet known if the new version will feature these additions.

The cafe and lounge will serve drinks, as the last location had many signature cocktails. It’s proposed to be open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays.
