The Oswegian is preparing to open at 456 N State St in Lake Oswego, according to owner Sean Casey, who confirmed the news directly to What Now Portland. Casey said the business is waiting on a temporary operating permit from Oregon’s liquor commission before opening, with a grand launch targeted for late August or early September.
The Oswegian is a full public house, with a wide beer selection, a complete bar, a full food menu and live entertainment, including bands, planned once the doors open. Casey said the goal is to bring a genuine neighborhood gathering spot back to the corner, where guests can settle into a drink, a meal, or a night of live music without feeling rushed.
The space has a long history under Casey, who said he operated it as Gemini Bar and Grill starting in 1994. He later leased the space to a group who continued operating under the Gemini name without paying rent for an extended period, a dispute that remains in litigation. He described The Oswegian as effectively a rebrand and revival of that same space under his direct ownership again.
The location sits along State Street in downtown Lake Oswego, a stretch known for its mix of longtime local restaurants and bars just blocks from the Willamette River, giving the reopened space a built in flow of neighborhood foot traffic once it launches.
“The name changed, but the soul stays in here,” Casey told What Now.
