Last year, What Now Sacramento reported that a Dublin-based dim sum restaurant was planning to open a new location at The Davis Collection. Now, the eatery has an update and a slight location change.
While 88 Bao Bao was initially slated to open in Suite 116 at 865 Russell Blvd, licensing documents recently filed with the city confirm that the upcoming restaurant will instead occupy Suite 130.
Founded by serial restaurateur Xiang Qiu Lin, the chain currently operates eight locations across Northern California, including a spot in Rancho Cordova and a recently opened restaurant in Roseville.
The menu features an array of steamed or boiled soup dumplings, pan-fried pork buns and potstickers, and hearty rice or noodle plates. According to the licensing paperwork, the Davis location will also serve beer and wine.
While Lin told What Now Sacramento that an official launch date has not yet been set, shoppers attending The Davis Collection’s grand opening on September 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. can expect 88 Bao Bao to join the festivities, offering a special coupon for visitors.
Once it debuts, 88 Bao Bao Davis will join a diverse lineup of tenants at the roughly 105,000-square-foot shopping center, including Fluffy Fluffy Dessert Cafe, The Melt, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, Cold Stone Creamery, Urban Plates, and Paris Banh Mi.
