The city of Lincoln is in for a sweet treat as local baker and entrepreneur Mary Jaques continues to work on a new brick-and-mortar bake shop for her dessert brand Crumb Dessert Co. at 680 5th St. The small 800-square-foot space has been a baker’s first pick as it was former home to Dear Ruby, Bakery and Cafe, and Country Harvest Bakery & Cafe.
Jaques currently operates a dessert truck that regularly works at special events and farmers markets. She also provides catering services. Many of Crumb’s fan-favorite creations are also available at local outlets, including Compton’s Market and Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op. Crumb had a small storefront in the Harvard Square building in Sacramento for about a year and a half. However, like many other small businesses, the storefront has closed during the pandemic.
The new Lincoln storefront will have a more extensive menu on top of Crumb’s regular offerings, including coffee, mochas, savory pies, and breakfast items, plus occasional Portuguese dessert on rotation. The location will have indoor and outdoor seating, with most items packaged ready to go.
Jaques originally hoped to open Crumbs by last October, although things have taken longer than anticipated. As of now, the business’ website and social media all indicate the new storefront to be coming soon. A Google Business Profile has been created for the business, though no specific opening date was available. What Now Sacramento sent Jacques an email requesting for comment, but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage.
