A recent record indicates that a remodeling permit has been filed for the old Press Club space at 2030 P Street in Sacramento. A new concept called 8-Track Club, which will have similar offerings compared to the Press Club, is in the works.

The property was purchased by husband-and-wife Bret and Karen Bair back in 2022. 8-Track Club was planned back then, although unexpected hurdles have stopped the business from opening as planned. After much anticipation, there finally seem to be movements on the project as those passing by can now see a neon sign on the outside of the building.

The business currently holds an interim operating permit, which expires in January 2024. It is currently waiting for a general liquor license to be approved. The submitted remodeling project will include lowering the ceiling and adding a partition wall to build a storage space, which will reduce the capacity of the existing restaurant space to 90 seats.

8-Track Club is anticipated sometime in late 2024. At the moment, no detailed opening timeframe was available and neither owner was available for comments. Similar to Press Club, which reopened a few blocks down the street, 8-Track Club plans to serve the community as a watering hole and gathering space with live music and other entertainment.
