The former space belonging to Sunny’s Market in Midtown Sacramento is being converted into a new multi-concept eatery. Kupros Craft House owners Steve Tokuhama and Keegan Currey received approval from the county to begin construction and anticipate opening the new eatery in the summer.

Tokuhama purchased the 2,300-square-foot building at 2800 G St in 2021, which was last occupied by a convenience store serving the Marshall School area. Tokuhama and Currey plan on fully renovating the space from the inside out to convert it into a multi-concept eatery.

“We are planning a multifaceted takeout concept,” Tokuhama said in a conversation with the Sacramento Business Journal, “The property will be partitioned into two units. One side will have a combination concept with Hawaiian barbecue, ramen and Hawaiian poke, while the other side will be a sandwich shop with soups and salads.” Tokuhama is also considering adding a cafe concept that will serve coffee and breakfast sandwiches.

According to the Business Journal article, the eatery will have three to-go windows along the sidewalk on 28th Street. In addition to the main entrance, a separate entrance will be constructed for each concept. The operators are confident about opening in the summer, although the timeline may shift given the extent of the construction. The new eatery does not yet have a name.
