A new family-owned venue designed to foster creativity and connection is headed to Citrus Heights.
Sweet Music Studio Cafe is slated to open on August 23, 2025, in a 1,600-square-foot space at 8040 Greenback Lane, according to Sacramento Business Journal. The concept is the brainchild of CEO Evelyn Guizar, a Citrus Heights native who saw a need for more community-centered creative spaces in her hometown.
The space will serve as both a performance venue and a casual cafe, offering live music, music lessons, workshops, and cultural events curated in collaboration with local instructors and organizations.
Programming will span a wide range of genres and formats, including solo instrumentalists, jazz artists, flamenco artists, and spoken-word performances.
The cafe will serve light bites, desserts, locally roasted coffee, and a curated selection of artisanal beer and wine. Guizar anticipates hiring 10 to 12 staff members, including music instructors and baristas.
Operations will be a family affair: Evelyn will lead day-to-day management. Her husband, Javier—a sound engineer—will handle live audio, and their son, Daniel—a member of local band Tastes Like TV Static—will step in as musical director.
Initial funding for the business has been secured through loans, and the trio plans to seek grants for future growth.
“Our unique establishment is a place for everyone to come together and create social cohesion through art, music, and culture,” reads a statement on Sweet Music Studio Cafe’s website. “It’s a space for our talented local artists and musicians to showcase their hard work and dedication to their craft.”
