Melissa and Tyler Williams, owners of Tank House BBQ and Jungle Bird, appear to be working on a new concept at the old Dad’s Kitchen space. The comfort food restaurant at 2968 Freeport Blvd closed at the end of July after 44 years and has since remained vacant. As of now, there is no opening timeframe available for the new concept. This news was first seen in the Sacramento Business Journal.
Melissa Williams posted on her personal Facebook: “Super excited about this new project! #comingsoon,” according to the Business Journal. What Now Sacramento reached out for more details but had not heard back by the time of this coverage.
Commercial real estate Dave Herrera of Colliers told the Business Journal that the Williams are partnering up with Oliver Ridgeway of Downtown Sacramento restaurant Camden Spit & Larder on the new concept with a working name “Stepdad’s.”
A new liquor license has been filed for Stepdad’s with the Alcoholic Beverage Control. It is unclear if the new space will occupy only the approximately 1,920-square-feet restaurant space or if it will also fill the part in the adjacent building that Dad’s Kitchen also occupied.
