Goldfish Swim School is coming to 1740 Freedom Way in Roseville, with local franchisees Vish and Dee Desai operating under Blue Wawa Inc, having signed a lease for a brand-new, ground-up construction project at the site. The 7,136-square-foot facility is expected to open by the end of 2027, according to a statement from the company, making it the first Goldfish Swim School location in the greater Sacramento area.
Goldfish Swim School offers year-round indoor swim lessons for children ages 4 months to 12 years old, taught in small class sizes inside 90-degree, shiver-free pools, a detail that tends to matter a lot to parents dragging reluctant toddlers to swim class. The curriculum covers water safety education alongside the technical side of swimming, with a family-oriented atmosphere that has helped the brand build a loyal following in the markets where it operates.
The Desais have been working toward this moment for a while. They signed an area development agreement with the franchise chain last year, identifying Roseville as their top target for a first location while still in the site selection phase. Opening a Goldfish location is a significant investment. Franchisees typically commit between $2.6 million and $6 million to get a school open. The Desais are also the operators behind a Goddard School location in Roseville, giving them an existing experience in the local family-oriented education and childcare market.
The company says it still has franchise opportunities available in California for operators interested in joining the network, according to the Sacramento Business Journal. The chain now operates more than 200 schools across 40 states and Canada.
