Sky River Casino at 1 Sky River Pkwy in Elk Grove has officially moved into vertical construction on its highly anticipated 300-room hotel, with crews completing the foundation pour for the West Tower on June 24 and beginning to erect the structural framework just one day later. The East Tower foundation followed on July 6, with both towers now advancing simultaneously toward what will become Elk Grove’s largest hotel upon completion.
The milestone marks a visible turning point in a multi-year resort expansion that has been reshaping the 35-acre property off Highway 99 at Grant Line Road since 2025. The project, owned by the Wilton Rancheria tribe and operated in partnership with Boyd Gaming, is expected to be completed in late 2027 to early 2028 and will transform what is currently one of Northern California’s most popular day-trip casinos into a full-scale overnight destination resort.
When complete, the expansion will add a resort-style outdoor pool, a spa and salon, expanded event and entertainment space, and enlarged high-limit gaming areas alongside the hotel. 1,500 cubic yards of concrete were used in the West Tower foundation pour alone, giving a sense of the scale of what’s being built.
The resort expansion is expected to create 300 to 400 permanent jobs in hospitality, food service, entertainment, and hotel operations, adding to the roughly 1,600 people already employed at Sky River today.
