Dallas-based Vandelay Hospitality Group is expanding its San Antonio presence with the opening of Jack & Harry’s, a New Orleans-inspired chophouse planned for Alamo Heights.

The restaurant is expected to open in summer 2027 at the revamped Nix Health building at 5307 Broadway, where Vandelay will also bring its East Coast-inspired restaurant and oyster bar concept, Hudson House, in spring 2027.

The San Antonio Jack & Harry’s will mark the restaurant’s second location, following the original’s opening in Dallas in spring 2024.

According to the company, the concept was inspired by an unforgettable trip to New Orleans that Vandelay founder Hunter Pond took with restaurateurs Julian Barsotti of Barsotti’s and Greg Katz of Beverley’s Bistro early in his career.

The menu at the Dallas location centers on prime and dry-aged steaks, including a French onion filet topped with raclette and a 42-day dry-aged Delmonico ribeye. Other offerings include chicken and sausage gumbo, po’boys, Cajun-spiced Gulf redfish, and barbecue shrimp.

The bar menu draws inspiration from New Orleans and Bourbon Street, with cocktails such as the Vieux Carré and a French martini made with pineapple and raspberry. Guests can also expect classics including the Negroni and several margarita options. The wine list features selections by the glass with an emphasis on French grapes.

The Alamo Heights location is expected to carry the same design aesthetic as the original, incorporating imported New Orleans brick, wood paneling, and antique finishes intended to evoke the French Quarter.

The Jack & Harry’s announcement follows Vandelay Hospitality Group’s previously announced plans for Hudson House at the same property. A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing previously revealed plans for the Hudson House project, which will bring East Coast oysters, fish tacos, lobster rolls, and maki to San Antonio.

“San Antonio has been on our radar for a long time, and Alamo Heights felt like the right place for us,” Pond said in a release. “Broadway has a strong sense of history and a real neighborhood identity, which is something we value.”

With the two concepts planned for the Nix Health building, Vandelay Hospitality Group is set to bring both a New Orleans-inspired chophouse and its seafood-focused Hudson House concept to the Alamo Heights area in 2027.
