Chef Alejandro Paredes opened the restaurant in 2025 under the name Tacopolis SA. The restaurant rebranded the concept with a new name and logo, El Fish Demon, in April 2026.
According to the CultureMap San Antonio report, the owner shared that the taqueria concept was not working for the brand. The report stated, “switched gears to open El Fish Demon in the same space, offering Gulf mariscos.”
Before opening El Fish Demon (Tacopolis SA), Paredes operated several other notable eateries, including Carnitas Lonja and Fish Lonja.
Customers’ Responses on Social Media
Following the announcement, customers shared messages of support on social media. Some also wrote heartfelt messages under the post. The announcement prompted many customers to ask what comes next for the restaurant and its owner.
One of the guests commented, “So sad to see this. Wish you all the best in whatever comes next for you, Alex! Thanks for being a part of our community for the last several years. Hope it’s not the last we see of you!”
Even though the restaurant operated for a brief period of time, it made a significant impact on the San Antonio dining landscape.
