A popular West Texas craft beer concept appears to be moving closer to its long-awaited San Antonio debut.

According to the CultureMap San Antonio Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Tin Man Filling Station is progressing toward opening its first San Antonio location at 17910 Bulverde Rd. on the city’s North Side. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.

The growler-focused beer bar first signaled its San Antonio expansion plans in late 2024. State filings submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation at the time indicated construction was expected to be completed by April 2025.

While that timeline passed without an opening, the latest permit activity suggests the project remains active and moving forward. Founded in 2016 by Kenji Shigematsu and Moises Valdez, Tin Man Filling Station has grown from a single El Paso location into a seven-unit operation across West Texas. The company’s most recent location opened in December 2025.

The concept is known for its rotating selection of craft beer, cider, wine, and kombucha, available both on-site and to-go in growlers and cans. Guests can also expect community-focused amenities such as board games, food pop-ups, and unique décor that includes repurposed beer-keg seating painted by local artists.

Tin Man Filling Station has built a loyal following in El Paso through weekly promotions and limited-edition merchandise, including commemorative pint glasses tied to major events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

While a firm opening timeline for the San Antonio location remains unclear, the recent permit filing indicates progress is being made toward bringing the concept to the Alamo City.

What Now San Antonio reached out for additional information regarding the opening timeline and future plans for the San Antonio location. Updates will be provided as more details become available.
