Plans are in place to build a new coffeehouse and roastery at the mixed-use apartment complex, The Rylan Apartments. Located on Main Street in a 1,000 square foot space, Archer’s Arrow Coffee is planning their debut in the bustling Downtown Vista area.

Owners Josh and Kathryn Barille are longtime North County residents who live, work, and have children in school nearby. “I was born and raised in Carlsbad, and our family moved to Vista. We saw the Rylan building go up and there was an opportunity for retail space there,” Josh Barille tells What Now San Diego.

Restaurant experience runs in their family, the Barille family also owns Cafe Topes and The Goods Bakery in Carlsbad.

Josh and Kathryn wanted to embark on a new solo project and saw the opportunity in the new Vista space. During the pandemic, they went through the Specialty Coffee Association’s Roasting certification program and are looking forward to putting their training to good use with the start of the new business.

Once Archer’s Arrow is up and running serving high-quality coffee, expect in-house roasting to begin soon after. Beyond coffee, they’ll also serve from a unique wine menu with monthly tastings from Sommeliers, and specialty nights that feature select wine varieties. The Barille’s see the space as a hub for their community, serving locals like themselves and residents of The Rylan. The site currently has vacant space for another two 5,000 square foot restaurants that will neighbor Archer’s Arrow and Coldwell Bank.

Archer’s Arrow Coffee will begin building soon and is expected to open February 2022. Stay updated with their progress on Instagram
