CAVA is set to open its first Bay Area restaurant at Santana Row in San Jose in 2027, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The restaurant will be located at 3055 Olin Ave., Suite 1035, and two additional CAVA locations are planned for the San Francisco area. However, their addresses and opening dates have not yet been announced.
The announcement was made by CAVA Senior Vice President Nitya Madhavan during the company’s Supper Series event in San Francisco on Aug. 6. The event followed a fan vote in which San Francisco won the opportunity to host the pop-up over Seattle and Salt Lake City.
CAVA began as a full-service Greek restaurant called Cava Mezze in Maryland in 2006 before shifting to a fast-casual model. The first fast-casual CAVA opened in 2011, with the company developing a menu centered on customizable Mediterranean-style grain and salad bowls.
The Bay Area locations will serve CAVA’s standard national menu, including customizable bowls and pitas, along with dips, spreads and dressings. Menu staples include proteins such as grilled chicken and braised lamb, as well as spicy hummus, whipped feta and lemon herb tahini.
CAVA currently operates nearly 470 restaurants nationwide, with its California locations concentrated in Southern California.
