According to an on-sale beer and wine license application, Ezra Berman and Miles Palliser of 2nd Street Bar, LLC are opening a restaurant in Oakland. Mama’s Boy will be located at 15 Grand Avenue, neighboring Cafe Umami Uptown, Farley’s East, Mela Bistro, Viridian, and Berman and Palliser’s sports bar, The Athletic Club Oakland.
While a cuisine and menu have not yet been announced, Berman and Palliser are no strangers to entrepreneurship. According to his LinkedIn, Berman is a managing member of The Athletic Club Oakland, a “roomy sports bar with an energetic vibe offering draft beer, lots of TVs, and American pub grub.” He is also a founding partner of Blue & Yellow Project, a fashion company “with a conscience” that crafts their garments using “yarns spun from recycled textiles and surplus fabrics from the apparel industry.” Palliser is also a managing member of The Athletic Club Oakland and, according to his LinkedIn, of San Francisco Athletic Club — another sports bar with “a full bar plus wines on tap and a couple dozen big-screen TVs.”
What Now San Francisco spoke with Berman, who confirmed the name of the restaurant and the address, and shared that the eatery will open in 2023.
