Hako San Café & Bar will join Central Peak Residences in downtown Kirkland, developer Cordillera Homes announced on Instagram. Owner Alen Fikic hopes to open in mid- to late summer 2027, he told What Now Seattle.
The café and bar will occupy about 3,060 square feet on the development’s ground floor, Connect CRE reports. Central Peak Residences is at 177 Central Way.
For Fikic, Hako San brings together ideas he has developed over years in the coffee business, inspired by his time in Japan and Europe.
“I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I’ve always had a vision of creating a space that’s very unique and very different,” he said.
He envisions a casual place where guests can stop for breakfast and coffee or a light lunch, then return for drinks in the evening. Small bites for happy hour are also part of his plans.
The menu will draw on American, European, and Japanese cooking. Specialty coffee, cocktails, beer, and wine are also planned.
Fikic plans to give coffee and cocktails their own dedicated bars. The coffee bar will serve daytime customers, and a separate cocktail bar beside it will serve drinks later in the day. He described the planned interior as clean, simple, and elegant.
His decision to open at Central Peak reflects a longstanding connection to Kirkland. Fikic was previously a partner at Zoka Coffee in downtown Kirkland and said he had wanted to build another business in the city.
“I’ve also lived in Downtown Kirkland for a very long time. I’ve launched another business in Kirkland, and I just love Kirkland,” he said.
