Located at 901 S Howard Ave., SoHo restaurant Daily Eats will close on June 15 after 20 years, reported That’s So Tampa last month.

As the That’s So Tampa coverage points out, though, the news isn’t as sad as it seems. Tampa-based hospitality company Ciccio Restaurant Group has announced that they will be replacing the former restaurant with a new concept, Meeting House, described in the coverage as “a neighborhood restaurant built around lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.”

With the transformation described as a “glow-up,” a few other key points follow: many favorite dishes will be carried over onto the Meeting House menu, and many of the restaurant’s employees will be staying on too.

In addition to being something new, the Meeting House name is also a throwback: before Daily Eats, the building at 901 S Howard Ave. was home to The Old Meeting House, which was itself another longstanding local institution.

Meeting House is expected to open “a few weeks” after Daily Eats’ June 15 closing.

“Daily Eats has meant so much to us over the years, and we know it has meant a lot to many of you too,” says a post published to Instagram by Daily Eats. “We’ve watched first dates turn into families, regulars become friends, and this little restaurant become part of the neighborhood in a way we’ll never take lightly. While change can be emotional, this is not goodbye to the people or spirit of Daily Eats. Our team is staying together, many guest favorites will remain, and we’re incredibly excited for what’s next.”
