With more than 30 locations in states like Florida, Georgia, and New York (plus, What Now reported this month, more to come in Massachusetts), Juici Patties is a growing Jamaica-born Jamaican patties chain.
“If you’re new to Juici Patties and the delicious, island goodness that is ‘the Jamaican patty’ you’re in for a treat!” says the Juici Patties website. “It’s a flaky, golden, handmade pastry filled with traditionally seasoned & savory Jamaican beef or chicken. Baked to Juici perfection!”
Juici Patties has restaurants in Florida’s Miami and Orlando markets, but it has yet to make landfall in the Tampa Bay area. A debut is currently in the works, however. The Juici Patties website lists two new locations: one opening in Tampa, and one in St. Petersburg.
This week, What Now came across plan review paperwork submitted by Nimo Ventures LLC for an additional new Juici Patties, at 2705 University Square Dr.
The University Square location, which is locally owned by family members Tifany Bryant, Fredrick Moe, and Nichole Bailey, is preparing for its Grand Opening on September 19, Tifany Bryant told What Now on Thursday.
“This is especially meaningful to us because Juici Patties is the first franchise to expand outside of Jamaica, and our family has a long history with Jamaican patties,” Bryant said in an email conversation. “Our grandparents—and even our great-grandparents—sold patties in Jamaica, making it incredibly rewarding to help bring this authentic Jamaican brand and a piece of our family’s heritage to the Tampa community.”
Juici Patties’ patty varieties include Mild Beef, Spicy Beef, Vegan, and Spicy Curry Chicken, and they can be loaded with avocado and/or cheese too. That’s along with sides like Coco Bread.
“Patties are what we’re all about! Authentic, island flavor in every Juici bite!” says the Juici Patties website. “Beef patties. Chicken patties. Sometimes mild. Sometimes with a little more spice! We’ll add cheese, sure… But, we’re also very serious about smiles! Yes, along with our food that’s bursting with traditional Jamaican spices and flavor, we’re committed to providing you excellent service in a clean, fun atmosphere!”
