What Now reported last year on expansion plans by Outside BBQ in Tampa. The story behind this local barbecue brand that is fast becoming a sensation has only gotten bigger since then. Launched in 2022, Outside BBQ has grown to include three restaurants, and now—four years after its debut—it’s planning to open a fourth restaurant.
This time, the concept is a little different. Opening at 6844 N. 50th St. in Tampa, the Outside brand’s fourth installment is called Outside Seafood.
“We’re going to have crab boils, fried fish, fried shrimp, seafood rice, oysters,” Chef Jevonta Godwin told What Now on Friday. It’s a new set of culinary offerings, but the approach promises to be the same: home-style cooking and hospitality.
What is it like to be opening the fourth restaurant in four years? What Now asked.
“We’ve been growing really fast. It’s the experience customers are getting with soulful food and Southern hospitality. Giving people home-cooked meals,” said Godwin. “It’s all authentic food, no canned foods or processed foods. It’s all fresh produce, fresh meat, cooked every day.”
As the Outside team prepares to launch Outside Seafood, Chef Godwin says the plan is to keep growing.
“We’re looking to expand all over Florida.”
