This August, healthy juice, smoothie, and bowl franchise Pure Green is opening a new location in Sarasota’s University Town Center. Opening at 5275 University Pkwy, Suite 130, Pure Green will join the Market at UTC.

“We’re working hard to get it open sometime in the month of August,” Murali, the franchise owner launching the UTC location, told What Now on Wednesday.

Murali says his journey with the Pure Green brand represents an alignment between the brand’s values and mission and his own.

“We want to promote health awareness in the Sarasota area. This is one of the best locations because there are a lot of health-aware communities in this area, and in the complex itself,” Murali said. “I came across Pure Green and found it to be one of the best, and their mission really aligned with what I was looking to do. That’s the really fundamental thing; it was a business I wanted to be associated with.”

The Pure Green menu features Superfood Smoothies like the eponymous Pure Green (kale, spinach, mango, banana, pineapple, coconut water) and the Mocha Cold Brew (cold brew coffee, raw cacao, almond butter, banana, grass-fed whey protein, almond milk). There are Cold-Pressed Juices, Acai & Pitaya Bowls, and Sourdough Toasts like the Everything Avocado Smash (toasted sourdough, EVOO, cream cheese, avocado, lemon, pink Himalayan salt, everything seasoning) and the Almon Butter Chia (toasted sourdough, almond butter, bananas, honey drizzle, chia seeds).

“I am always looking for healthy and inexpensive food,” Murali says. “I think food can be like a medicine, taken every day, in moderation. Otherwise, you wind up taking real medicine.”

Murali, who has worked for Kaiser Permanente and witnessed the health struggles of many, many patients, says there’s one lesson he draws from all of it: “Prevention is the best medicine.”

Opening in the Market at UTC, Pure Green joins restaurants like Thai Seed, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Jersey Girl Bagels.
