Le Cafe Cassis, a French bakery and bistro, is getting ready to open in Niagara-on-the-Lake at 135 Queen Street, Unit 3.

The cafe is expected to open in late spring or early summer 2026, according to permit filings. The concept comes from owner Nina Zaitseva, who also operates French Lunch in Oakville. Le Cafe Cassis will introduce a full-service dining format featuring breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with an emphasis on classic French bakery items and comfort dishes. Customers can expect croissants, crepes, quiches, soups, and specialty coffee.

The Niagara-on-the-Lake cafe will also offer a selection of desserts and seasonal menu items prepared with traditional French techniques. In addition to dine-in service, the concept will include take-home options such as frozen crêpes, pies, and prepared meals designed for easy at-home dining.

Zaitseva’s existing cafe, French Lunch in Oakville, has built a reputation for its casual French-inspired brunch and bakery offerings. Located on Kerr Street, the restaurant focuses on fresh pastries, savory crêpes, quiches, and homemade desserts. Le Cafe Cassis appears to expand on that same foundation with a broader, more dinner-focused format.

Niagara-on-the-Lake continues to attract food and beverage concepts that lean into tourism and destination dining, with Queen Street serving as a central corridor for visitors and locals. This will be an excellent landing space for Le Cafe Cassis as it introduces a French-inspired bistro experience to the area.
