One of Miami’s most popular bakery and café concepts is making its Broward County debut this fall.
The Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority (DDA) announced that Ophelia, the Coconut Grove bakery founded by husband-and-wife chefs Ana De Sa Martins and Juan Vieira, will open a new café at Huizenga Park, located at 32 E. Las Olas Boulevard. The café will bring its scratch-made pastries, artisan breads and specialty coffee to the New River waterfront in downtown Fort Lauderdale some time this fall.
The opening marks Ophelia’s first location in Broward County and another milestone for Huizenga Park, which reopened in January following a $15 million renovation. Since then, the park has welcomed more than 100,000 visitors and has become a hub for community events, dining and outdoor recreation.
Founded in 2025 as a vintage-inspired mobile café, Ophelia quickly developed a devoted following thanks to its chef-driven approach. Both founders previously worked in some of South Florida’s top kitchens, including Stubborn Seed, The Surf Club and Patisserie Chanson, before launching their own concept.
The café bakes its breads, pastries, syrups and cold foams in-house each day. Signature offerings include coffee-glazed cinnamon rolls, a brown sugar cinnamon latte topped with vanilla cold foam, and its popular bacon, egg and cheese sandwich served on a house-made English muffin.
Ophelia joins a growing lineup of food concepts at Huizenga Park, including Mr. Smash Burger and the upcoming Sweetwaters waterfront restaurant. The café will serve breakfast, lunch and specialty coffee daily, adding another culinary destination to Fort Lauderdale’s rapidly evolving downtown riverfront.
