Lakeside Asia Cafe, a Sichuan restaurant in Reston, has announced its closure. The restaurant will close September 30 after 13 years in business.
Lakeside Asia Cafe to Serve Its Final Meal
Lakeside Asia Cafe serves Sichuan cuisine at the South Lakes Village Shopping Center in Reston. The restaurant shared an official closure announcement on September 22 on its official website.
Lakeside Asia Cafe at 11130 South Lakes Dr J in Reston will serve its last meal on Wednesday, September 30. The team wrote, “Serving this community has been a joy and a privilege.”
They thanked the community and customers for their support and kindness and said, “You made Lakeside Asia Cafe more than a restaurant, and we will always treasure the memories we made together.”
Chef Behind the Restaurant
Executive chef and co-owner Chen Wei is a native of Sichuan and has more than 30 years of experience preparing Sichuan cuisine, according to the restaurant’s website. He trained at a professional culinary school before continuing his work in the cuisine.
Chen was a member of the Sichuan Culinary Association and later worked as an instructor at Sichuan Culinary School. He also helped develop teaching materials and videos for aspiring chefs. Many of his dishes have been published in Sichuan cooking magazines.
Before moving to the United States, Chen worked as an executive chef at five-star hotels including Jin Hua Hotel in Xi’an and Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing. From 1987 to 1988, he was also selected to choose dishes for national leaders in Beijing, according to the restaurant.
As the restaurant prepares for its final service, the team encourages the community to visit one more time. “We hope to see you once more before we close. We will miss you!” stated the announcement.
The closure of Lakeside Asia Cafe will leave a significant mark on the Reston dining community.
