One of the DMV’s favorite family-owned bakeries is getting ready to serve its delicious treats to Arlington. Gwenie’s Pastries is bringing a burst of sweetness to the city this spring, reports local media outlet Northern Virginia Magazine.
The beloved chain, which brings the flavors of the Philippines to DMV diners, will be opening at 550 14th Street South. A precise opening date is not presently available, however Gwenie’s is aiming to greet guests at some point in May. What Now DC has reached out to ownership for further details.
Gwenie’s already has a powerful presence throughout the DMV, with the heaviest saturation of storefronts in Maryland. The “M” in DMV currently has 11 bakeries, while Virginia can claim five. DC brings up the rear with only one to-date.
Gwenie’s has been crafting superior pastries from high-quality ingredients for more than 15 years. Baker and co-founder Stella Fernandez offers this insight on the website as to the bakery’s continued longevity and success: “With Pride and Honor, we now share to the world that taste which our family’s tradition has mastered and perfected through time.
