Fairfax County has captured the attention of an expanding pizza chain with a rich history. Piccolo Buco by Cooper’s Hawk is making moves towards its DMV debut, with a potential lease signing just over the horizon, reports Washington Business Journal.

The restaurant’s potential 12169 Fair Lakes Promenade Drive home is not yet a done deal. The Washington Business Journal reports that while Piccolo Buco is close to signing a lease for the former home of Romano’s Macaroni Grill, the ink has not yet been placed, though pre-submission paperwork was submitted to Fairfax County regarding the Kingstowne Center restaurant space in September.

Given the remaining variables that need to be cemented, it is impossible to estimate an opening timeline at this juncture.

Piccolo Buco has earned acclaim thanks to its commitment to making good food, simply and well. The website explains the menu, saying: “San Marzano-style tomatoes. Artisan salumi. Hand-stretched dough. A menu built on the Italian conviction that the right ingredients, handled well, don’t need much else. Every dish comes with a wine pairing recommendation.”
