The team behind the Mosaic District’s MacMillan Whiskey Room plans to open a restaurant called MacMillan Spirit House possibly by the end of the year in Alexandria.

The new concept, which will be located at 500 Montgomery St., will span around 3,800-square-foot space and it will feature an outdoor patio, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Owners Derek Anderson and Emma Hand were hoping to expand in a space larger than their whiskey room that opened in 2019 at 2920 District Ave. Now, the new location will allow them to add more to their food and beverages menu.

“It’s small, which worked when we opened, but at this point were turning away more people than we seat,” Anderson told the Washington Business Journal of the Mosaic space. “It’s become a very significant part of our success.

Anderson added that the second location gives his team the chance to focus on a wide variety of an ABC portfolio, including tequila, gin, and rum.
