A great anchor store can profoundly elevate any development, and luckily for the upcoming Frederick Brickworks, it’s attained an all-timer. The mixed-use development has secured Whole Foods as its centerpiece, a market sure to delight local shoppers with its organic offerings, reports The Daily Record.

Ground was broken for the first phase of the 65-acre project earlier this week. The Frederick Brickworks will have 100,000 square feet of space dedicated to retail, including, of course, Whole Foods. Eric Walter, the president of real estate firm Greenberg Gibbons, expressed a particular enthusiasm for the arrival of the grocery market, stating: “We’re especially excited to announce Whole Foods Market as the anchor tenant, along with several other retailers, and look forward to creating a destination that expands the shopping, dining, and residential experiences for the Frederick community.”

While the news of Whole Foods’ arrival is certain to inspire excitement in local shoppers, they will need to exercise a little patience. Construction is projected to be completed in 2028, making it difficult to estimate a precise opening date.

Whole Foods has been a grocery titan since its founding in 1980 in Austin, Texas. The chain has more than 500 locations open across the US, UK, and Canada.
