Chops Lobster Bar, an Atlanta staple from Buckhead Life Restaurant Group since 1988, is set for an expansion that will add at least 1,500 square feet to its footprint.
Niko Karatassos, the company’s president, told What Now Atlanta over the telephone Thursday that Chops will add a 40-person private dining area and will expand its bar and dining room as part of the renovation.
Exact details are still being worked out with Chops’ landlord Cousins Properties—the owner of One Buckhead Plaza where the steakhouse is situated—as part of the restaurant’s upcoming lease renewal.
Karatassos has not yet executed the renewal but anticipates signing on for another 20 years, the restauranteur said.
Chops’ overhaul is part of a $2,500,000 renovation that will include a new valet circle outside of the restaurant, according to Karatassos.
The restaurant would remain open during construction and the timeline for the renovation is TBD.
“Cousins Properties has been an amazing partner and landlord and we couldn’t be more excited to keep giving the City of Atlanta the great reputation and operation of Chops for a long time to come,” Karatassos said.
Cousins this week filed the permit application for the project.
