Cane Concoctions is the newest concept brought to San Diegans by Tran Nguyen. Nguyen is behind two other San Diego eateries, Hillcrest’s Little Nap Café and Chula Vista’s Ichiban Sando. Little Nap Café serves up boba tea and Japanese desserts made with Hokkaido Milk Soft Serve, while Ichiban Sando is known for its katsu sandwiches on homemade Japanese milk toast. Ichiban Sando even makes its daikon pickles in-house.

Cane Concoctions has gone in a slightly different direction. It’s a smoothie and juice bar that offers drinks made with sugarcane. The juice bar celebrated its ‘soft-opening’ on June 27th, however their Instagram suggests the ‘grand-opening,’ originally set for July 25th, has been delayed. Cane Concoctions’ Instagram also suggests the juice bar will soon head to Hillcrest and Chula Vista. Naturally, we were curious.

Speaking with What Now San Diego, Tran says those plans are actually delayed as well. Tran initially had plans to go ahead with Cane Concoctions pop-ups at Little Nap Café and Ichiban Sando, but staff shortages have left those plans unfinished. While the pop-ups aren’t off the table completely,Tran says it’s no longer likely they will happen this fall. “Right now I don’t see it happening anytime soon,” Tran added.

While we all await these pop-ups to come to fruition, you can follow Cane Concoctions on social media, or head over to 3904 Convoy St. to get your hands on the real deal.
