The longstanding Hillcrest restaurant, Taste of Thai, is planning a new location in North County. They’ll be joining the 4S Ranch community, adding a stop for Thai cuisine at 4S Commons Town Center. The location formerly housed an Italian Bistro and Wine Bar called Capri-Blu.

Founded by Val and Art Habbestad in 1987, they’re proudly one of the longest running Thai restaurants to be established in the San Diego area. Their second location in Del Mar was destroyed in a fire in 2019 and their website has promised a relocation since.

Now the Habbestad family, including son Mark Habbestad, is heading to 4S Ranch to extend their business once again.

Taste of Thai serves up traditional dishes that are light and fresh, with House specialties include Tom Yum Soup, Spicy Chicken, and Shrimp Sa-Rong, marinated shrimp wrapped in golden-fried egg noodles.

The Habbestad’s are awaiting permitting and hope to begin serving in a second location again by Spring 2022. In the meantime, visit their original Hillcrest location at 527 University Avenue for Lunch and Dinner service. Find more information at their Website
