Brooke Dietrick’s first business cards for Truffle Bar were made out of construction paper. She passed them out in 2017 when hosting her first pop-up to see if anyone would want to buy her handcrafted chocolate truffles. Before that, she had made them for her co-workers at the school district, where she serves as a school counselor who would chase her down in the halls for a chocolate fix. She ended up selling 1,500 truffles at that pop-up and the week before Thanksgiving. By Christmas, she had sold another 4,500. Since then, Dietrick has opened Truffle Bar, an online truffle store that ships nationwide and sells confections out of Phoebe Floral & Home Decor in Allentown and the occasional pop-up market.
Truffle Bar will soon have its very own location when Riverport Public Market opens next spring. Truffle Bar will be among the 20+ vendors at the food and drink marketplace at 17 W. 2nd St. in Bethlehem.
“To me, everything succeeds in Bethlehem. It’s continually growing and expanding. It draws huge crowds for many events, people coming across the country for Musikfest. I just feel like this market is going to take off. It’s going to be huge,” Dietrick told What Now Philadelphia.
In addition to Truffle Bar’s classic flavors (chocolate, coffee, mint chocolate chip, orange, peanut butter, and raspberry), Dietrick says she hopes to experiment with gluten-free truffles, protein truffles, flavors and colors that are fun for kids, and some unique pairings like rose and caramel. You might also see other fun items like truffle hot cocoa bombs.
“Everything is going to be made on-site. So, people will get to see them being dipped. I feel like the sky is the limit. I can make whatever I want, and I can decorate however I want,” Dietrick said. “I’m super excited.”
