Farm Burger Athens — originally slated to open in the middle of 2020 — won’t start welcoming guests until late summer, early fall 2021, a spokesperson for the grass-fed burger chain this week confirmed in an email to What Now Atlanta.

What will be the chain’s seventh Georgia location “is still in its very early stages of development,” the spokesperson said despite plans to have opened last year. They could not provide a rendering of what the restaurant might look like or an exact opening timeline.

Farm Burger will open as part of the under-construction 100 Prince development which has continued progressing forward steadily since Athens emerged from its lockdown earlier in 2020. 100 Prince is approximately a year behind schedule according to leasing documents which pointed to a July 2020 delivery.

Currently, Building B which houses the Childs Street multi-family townhomes, and the central parking deck of the development are nearly completed. However, Building A — the centerpiece of the development — which topped off in mid-2020, is still under construction and the preserved Chapel of the former St. Joseph’s church which is set for renovation as part of the 100 Prince project, has only recently welcomed restoration crews.

Piggly Wiggly which is slated to anchor 100 Prince is also likely delayed, although reps for the grocer did not respond to a request for comment.
