The sandwich chain, Grater Grilled Cheese, is expected to open their fifth restaurant. According to a recent permit filing, the new location is expected to arrive at Scranton Rd and Mira Mesa Blvd in Sorrento Valley

Grater Grilled Cheese got its start as a food truck by founder Gaston Corbala. The business later expanded as a franchise with multiple locations led by locals Maya and Bernardo Kanarek

This will be their third location in San Diego county, they currently operate in Mission Valley and Otay Ranch. Orange County locations can be found in Huntington Beach and Irvine. Their sister restaurant Grater Greens specializes in soups, hearty grain and veggie bowls, and build-your-own salads.

Grater Grilled Cheese is known for cozy comfort foods, not your average processed cheese filled toasts. Their sandwiches start with a cheesy foundation of Colby, Swiss, Monterey, Provolone, and Cheddar, between two buttered bread slices and can be ordered with a variety of fillings from lobster to grilled chicken or carne asada.

No confirmation yet on when the new spot will get to grillin’ in Sorrento Valley. Catch up with Grater Grilled Cheese by following on Facebook, where they frequently share updates, deals, seasonal specials, and events like their recent Grilled Cheese Eating Competition!
