Canvas — a LGBTQ bar — is moving from its Church street location to Fatherland street.

The decision to move to East Nashville is due to the changing scenery at Church street, said Seth Thomas, executive chef and general manager of Canvas.

“We’ve always wanted to be in a place where we feel like we belong,” Thomas said, adding that as lots of new construction went up on Church street, the area has felt less like home.

“We decided to just focus on East Nashville,” Thomas continued. “That’s where our heart and our soul and our being wanted to be.”

“We know that we can provide great food, good beverage and great service,” Thomas said. “We’re just kind of looking towards what’s inside our four walls to be able to execute that and deliver that to the neighborhood and Nashville in a way that still keeps our culture strong. We’re a little funky. We’re a little bit weird or a little bit off the beaten path kind of in ideas and we want to give a unique experience to people.”

Canvas plans to open in East Nashville in early November.
