Empanada Kitchen, a San Diego-based restaurant that serves delicious Argentine food, is working on a new location in La Jolla.

Owners Matias Rigali and Dan Housenga are working on the company’s fourth location, allegedly at 613 Pearl Street, according to SanDiegoVille. Rigali tells What Now San Diego that the company is still in the negotiation phase for this location and doesn’t have an exact opening date. Whether or not the company lands in the former home of All Things Ube Desserts, owners confirm that they are working on a new location in La Jolla.

This is big news for the company, considering the first Empanada Kitchen opened at 819 C Street in early 2018. A second location opened the following fall in North Park on El Cajon Boulevard, followed by another location in Little Italy Food Hall, which opened earlier this month. While the first brick-and-mortar opened five years ago, the owners had the idea to bring Argentine culinary culture to San Diego in 2016 and started by selling freshly baked empanadas at various farmer’s markets around the city.

When this new Empanada Kitchen opens, customers can expect handmade Argentinean-style empanadas and other traditional dishes, such as traditional beef, braised lamb, ham & cheese, and sautéed chicken. The restaurant also offers a handful of vegan and vegetarian options like ratatouille, sweet corn & basil, mushroom & goat cheese, and more. There will also be a selection of coffee from Bump Coffee.
