The Huntington Beach outpost of the Avila’s El Ranchito chain will be reopening following a fire, after undergoing the permitting process and repair work. The 318 Main St. location had a blaze in the kitchen last month, the Orange County Register reports.
A building investigation record state that the building is under a yellow tag and is “not allowed to open for business until repairs are made and approved by the building department. All repairs of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural will require permits and inspections.”
The blaze happened early in the morning hours of November 8. It was a two-alarm fire and 13 emergency vehicles responded and put it out before it spread to nearby structures. A neighboring business owner saw the smoke and alerted the authorities.
Avila’s El Ranchito has 13 locations around SoCal, having started as a family-run joint in 1966. The Huntington Beach location, in the area’s downtown district, opened its doors in 1999. The chain won “Best Burrito” and “Best Mexican Restaurant” awards from the LA Times this year.
