A family-owned soul food concept is preparing to take a bite out of Salisbury Township. S&D SOULicious Cuisine, a well established and beloved food truck, is opening its first brick and mortar in the South Mall later this year, reports local media outlet WFMZ.

The concept will be setting up shop at 3300 Lehigh Street this fall. The space will accommodate approximately 20 customers. S&D SOULicious Cuisine owner and chef Shayvonne Terry-Rivera explains to What Now Philadelphia the considerations that went into selecting the South Mall location, stating: “When we started our food truck we attended South Malls Food Truck Thursdays Event where we had the opportunity of meeting the mall manager. While working the event we saw great opportunity being that it is near a busy intersection hosting dozens of businesses. We decided that this location was the best fit for us.”

Terry-Rivera has always intended to bring her recipes and carefully prepared dishes to a brick and mortar, and the food truck allowed her to build up a fan following that gave her the confidence to strike out on the next phase of her hospitality adventure. She says “We’ve been doing our food truck for about 2 years and gained a tremendous following for not only our food but for our customer service, so we felt it was time to take the next step which was to launch our first brick and mortar. Which has been my dream from the very start!”

Future regulars can anticipate enjoying a truly personal and delicious experience. S&D SOULicious is a business rooted in the importance of family, with an adventurous spirit and a willingness to experiment and explore. Terry-Rivera explains: “S & D is a family owned business that’s named after our 4 lovely children  (Shayden, Dylan, Dennis and Shaylynn). We specialize in southern cuisines with a twist because often venture out to other cultures as well!”

Fans of S&D’s food truck needn’t worry; Terry-Rivera has no intentions of shutting down her mobile operation once the brick and mortar launches.

Though the restaurant is still in the early stages of development, Salisbury locals can look forward to sampling S&D’s fare as early as this autumn. Terry-Rivera states: “Our estimated open date is October 2024. We plan to have a grand opening that we welcome all to be a part of.”

In addition to delicious dishes, S&D SOULicious will be bringing a welcoming sense of community to Salisbury, certain to make it an indispensable addition to the dining scene. Terry-Rivera concludes: “We pride ourselves on our customer service as well as how our food satisfies your tastebuds because we want our customers to be long lasting.”
