Fast-casual chain Chipotle Mexican Grill appears to be planning a new outpost in the northwest. A building permit was recently issued by Clark County for a new Chipotle at 7560 Grand Teton Drive, near the intersection with North Buffalo Drive.
The new Chipotle would be the chain’s 22nd store in Las Vegas.
It hasn’t been the easiest year for many of the country’s biggest fast- and fast-casual restaurant chains. Some, like Starbucks and McDonald’s, have faced a backlash against higher prices.
Chipotle ran afoul of a different complaint—portion size—when it became the butt of a viral TikTok joke called the “Chipotle Camera Trick Challenge” in which customers appeared to show they could increase the size of the portions they were given by filming Chipotle employees, as the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported recently.
“Generous portion is a core brand equity of Chipotle. It always has been, and it always will be, Chipotle CEO Brian Niccol told investors in a call cited by the RJ coverage. “With that said, getting the feedback caused us to relook at our execution across our entire system with the intention to always serve our guests delicious, fresh, custom burritos, and bowls with generous portions.”
Those more generous portions portions now appear to be on their way to the Grand Teton-Buffalo intersection.
