Cocina35, a family-owned Mexican restaurant known for the best chilaquiles in town, is working on a new breakfast-focused location in Coronado at 1201 First Street, #115.

The company’s fifth location is set to open at the Coronado Ferry Landing in the former space of Costa Azul as Cocina35 Brunch, according to San Diego Magazine. The new restaurant will be similar to the one in Liberty Station in terms of menu and aesthetic but with a few new menu items and twists on classics. Cocina35 Brunch is expected to open in mid-November, but that’s just the beginning. Once they open in Coronado, owners Paulina Chaidez and her brother Cesar hope to open more restaurants in North County.

When the company opens its newest location in Coronado, the restaurant will be approximately 4,500 square feet and have seats for about 150 guests. In addition to some new menu items and an upgraded lunch menu, the company plans to add a few new drink options, including a twist on a Paloma, as well as mimosa flights. At the moment, Cocina35 has locations in Downtown, Otay Mesa, Barrio Logan, and Liberty Station.

“Cocina35 is a family-owned restaurant that was created to bring to San Diego the essence of Mexico, the flavors, aromas, and textures that were given to us, growing up cooking right next to our grandparents in Mexico,” according to the company’s website. “We are a Mexican breakfast restaurant that specializes in Chilaquiles (the most traditional breakfast in Mexico), Voted best Chilaquiles in San Diego, we strive to bring to you an experience that you would never forget, from our delicious made-from-scratch aguas frescas and cafe de la olla to our crunchy and flavorful chilaquiles.”
