Board & Brew, the Del Mar-based sandwich chain with locations in California and Arizona, is getting ready to open a new location in San Diego’s Mission Valley at 1620 Camino De La Reina, Suite B.
The company’s 15th San Diego location will move into the former home of Starbucks in the Park Valley Center, according to a recent liquor license application. This location is the latest from franchisee Adam Shamel, the president of Blue Ocean Foods, Inc. He is a multi-unit franchisee with Dave’s Hot Chicken and previously of Jersey Mike’s. It’s unclear when the new Board & Brew will open, but it will sit in an excellent location at 1,222 square feet and directly next to a busy trolley stop.
This is a massive accomplishment for Shamel, who previously worked in Corporate Finance before opening three Jersey Mike’s locations in the Inland Empire. Since moving to San Diego, he has opened a handful of Board & Brew and Dave’s Hot Chicken locations throughout the area. When the new Board & Brew opens in Mission Valley, customers can expect to be roasted fresh in-house. The chicken is organic and never frozen, and all sauces, including all meat marinades, are made in-house from scratch.
In addition to being in an incredible location that will see a massive amount of foot traffic from the Green Line Trolley, it’s surrounded by other businesses. The shopping center recently underwent a considerable transformation, seeing a handful of longtime tenants exit, ushering room for new companies. Qdoba moved into the former homes of Little Bug Burgers and Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, while Urban Plates is moving into the former home of Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza & Grill.
