Look forward to pizza, bagels, beer and wine this summer at The Laundromat. The former Let’s Do Wash Coin Laundrette at 3725 Balboa St. in Outer Richmond is being transformed into an all-day eatery thanks to a team of friends and seasoned business owners.

CinemaSF owners Jaimi Holker and Adam Bergeron, who operate Balboa Theater across the street, were ready to begin their next restaurant venture. Holker, who is also a prop stylist and owns Blue Ceiling Prop Shop, tells What Now San Francisco, “We’ve been looking for a location on and off since selling our restaurant, The Crepe Place, in Santa Cruz more than four years ago.”

“This space on Balboa had stayed vacant after it closed just before the pandemic. Because of its size, close proximity to one of our other businesses, and being in a neighborhood we love so much, we decided to reach out to the landlord in hopes of starting this project. We decided to call it The Laundromat to pay homage to the 35-year family-owned business that used to be here and continue its tradition in this space.”

Holker and Bergeron partnered with Kevin Rodgers and Jenna O’Connell of Holey Roller Bagels to bring The Laundromat to life. “Kevin and Jenna started a Holey Roller Bagels during the pandemic and people can’t get enough. This space will allow us to accommodate the ever increasing demand for their bagels and create a large, family-style restaurant in a neighborhood with a list of exceptional food choices,” Holker adds.

Bagels and coffee will be on the menu in the mornings. At lunch and dinner, expect Detroit-style pizzas with the works in terms of topping options, plus a few New York-style slices as well. These two worlds will collide with their Pizza Bagel Boards, a working menu item that will be served family style. Local craft beers and regional wines will be available to wash it all down.

The Laundromat will be big enough to accomodate 49 seats at the start. Holker says they plan to apply for a parklette to offer outdoor seating, which will be perfect when they open this summer
