Beloved in Las Vegas since it started serving up its award-winning Thai cuisine in 2010, Weera Thai has been growing ever since its founding in Chiang Mai, Thailand back in 1978. The brand expanded again last year, with Weera Thai Seafood. Now it’s expanding once more with another new iteration: Weera Thai Street Food, opening at 328 W Sahara Ave.
“We want to show people South Thailand’s seafood dishes and let them experience them,” Sasi Phothidokmai told What Now in advance of the Weera Thai Seafood opening. Phothidokmai runs Weera Thai in partnership with her husband Prachatouch Thongusthaisiri. Their family opened the original restaurant in Thailand, and Phothidokmai’s brother runs two Thai restaurants in Paris.
Details on the new location are not yet available. What Now reached out to Phothidokmai this week to inquire about plans for Weera Thai Street Food opening. A building permit was issued for the new restaurant in June by the City of Las Vegas. Phothidokmai was not immediately available to discuss the opening.
Launching in a retail center on West Sahara Avenue just west of the intersection with South Las Vegas Boulevard, Weera Thai Street Food will join restaurants like The MINT Tavern, Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, Hummus Vegas & Grill, and Golden Steer Steakhouse.
