Mercado Taco Shop — helmed by Fernando Franco and Doris Valencia of Santa Ana’s El Mercado Modern Cuisine — will open at 320 Marine Ave, Newport Beach, CA 92662 this spring, according to a recently-filed ABC application and the company’s website.
While Mercado Taco Shop’s menu is still under construction, its sister store El Mercado Modern Cuisine serves regional Mexican food and craft Mexican cocktails. That said, it seems likely that the incoming Balboa Island eatery will maintain similar standards, flavors, and, perhaps, even offerings.
