According to a recent permit filing, Battle Grounds Gaming Cafe is set to open in Grant Park at 3738 NE Sandy Blvd, confirmed by its co-owner Steve Coker.

“We are planning to open in mid-October. Our goal is to be able to create a space that caters to people who just love being nerdy about games,” Coker told What Now Portland, “I’ve been in the hospitality industry for around 35 years. I was previously the retail operations manager for St Honore Bakery, but recently decided I wanted my own space. Three years ago I started creating my own game, and during those three years, I learned to love gaming. I miss the coffee, so we had to incorporate that, too.”

“For coffee, we will be partnering with Blue Kangaroo, and we might also have our blends with our brand label. We will have snacks and pre-packaged sandwiches, which the food options might expand in the future. Our goal is to also be able to host a late-night gaming vibe, and we have applied for our liquor license.”

The cafe will boast an impressive collection of games, ranging from kids’ classics to intricate hobbyist games and even miniatures like Warhammer. With an inviting open gaming area, the cafe beckons players to immerse themselves in exciting gaming sessions and spirited competitions. As the week unfolds, the atmosphere transforms with dedicated game nights, paving the way for tournaments.

To further enrich the gaming encounters, the cafe is in the process of building a private gaming room, complete with streaming options to enhance the immersive gaming journey. Customers can also look to their in-house game library, where they can borrow a game while spending time at the cafe.
