L’Atelier Yaffe: A Fusion of Art, Creativity, and Culinary Delights Set to Open in the Humboldt Area

The name choice connects Ivan's French heritage to his current nickname, with the name "L'Atelier" meaning " the studio" in French, combined with the Hebrew word "Yaffe" that means "beautiful."

According to a recent permit filing, L’Atelier Yaffe will open its doors on NE MLK Jr Blvd.

“My goal is to be able to open in February of 2024. L’Atelier Yaffe seeks to transcend the ordinary by crafting an environment that unites art and a celebration of diverse talents over a good drink or food pairing,” the owner told What Now Portland.

“The journey began with a rekindled passion for painting, an endeavor that resonated as deeply as playing soccer. The locker room, once filled with thoughts of the game, soon became a canvas for artistic ideas for me. I originally arrived in the city in late 2013 as a traveling and dedicated soccer player, but I was drawn to the city’s distinctive atmosphere. While my soccer career led me across Europe, including destinations like Amsterdam, Sweden, Berlin, and Norway, where I spent a lot of time finding the best spots for coffee and good hang-out vibes, Portland’s unique charm resonated deeply with me.”

“Originally, I was contemplating opening a different type of establishment, but that evolved to opening a space set to embrace the power of the art of shaping perspectives and fostering connections after inspiration from my travels.”

The owner told What Now Portland that the menu will be simple, yet creative, and definitely a more “on the fly” ideology, holding space for a good crepe option, as an example. The ambiance will likely host a long list of things for patrons to enjoy, with guest DJs, musicians, a dedicated space equipped with a surprise musical instrument that will be adorned in art, and more.

The spirit of L’Atelier Yaffe will extend beyond its physical walls. A magazine dedicated to artists is in the works to further elevate creativity and spread its influence worldwide. The magazine will showcase artists from various genres, becoming a window into the vibrant world of artistic expression, with hopes of connecting artists to different desired avenues. It will have two publications a year, with 12 slots per publication, and be both an online and physical publication.
